Benefit Cheekathon Review

Benefit and I are kind of in a love/hate relationship. I adore most of the products and am a huge fan of the POREfessional primer, foundation,highlighter- but I honestly think that they are a bit pricey, not to say some are obviously overpriced for the amount of product. So my heart literally jumped when I saw the value set on offer. 6 amazing blush’s, original size for the ‘mere’ price of 59 euros. Just so you know: one blush cost 31-33 euros and I’ve only used the try sizes as I hadn’t dared to buy the original. I dunno, maybe I’m just weird when it comes to blush.

At first, I wasn’t really sure if I should take the jump and go ahead and order. My dear Friend Lea and I were discussing the temptation on a regular basis. Shall we or shall we not? It was an amazing opportunity plus we would save a flipping huge amount of money too. But you’ve probably guessed right-we ended up purchasing it. Till now I haven’t regretted my decision. The packaging is adorable and so cute! Not to mention, it’s not too big and fits rather nicely in any medium handbag. When I opened the box set, the typical Benefit scent wavered across. If you are very sensitive when it comes to perfumed makeup, I do not recommend this product as the fragrant tends to be a bit heavy. I personally, love love love love makeup that smells amazing. I just feel better.

I was a little put off from how the blush looked really intense on its own. However, I was pleasantly surprised how subtle they were on my fair skin. ( fair is an understatement, I am friggin paler than a ghost. I AM a fucking ghost) I’ve played around with the colors and I love 5 out of the 6 blush. image

From left to right: Dallas, Coralista, Dandelion, Hoola and Rockateur.

I really had to put a good dollop of blush on my arm so the color was noticeable. For fair skin, I prefer mixing Coralista with Dandelion. That goes pretty well with everyday makeup and gives me a healthy glow without looking overloaded. Rockateur and Coralista, I mix for a tad heavier, glamourous makeup because I think it just gives off more of a profound, distinct and sexy look. Hoola, as the most of you prob already know, is amazing for contouring! The blushes are smooth and blendable, really nice touch to it and applying it wasn’t a big drama either. ( I sometimes put waaaaaay too much on my brush and I look like a fucking clown, so just keep an eye on that.)

I really do not know what to do with the shade Dallas. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to apply it correctly? Lost here!

So to sum it up: I love the set and it’s a great way to play around with different styles and looks. Plus you save a shit ton of money. Basically, you get 4 entire shades for free! If that’s not a good argument, I dunno what is.

What are your experiences with Benefit? Hell yess or Hell no? Let me know!

Why I love makeup so much.

Makeup. Makeup and me. It’s like a perfect match made in Heaven. I’ve invested so much money, sweat and tears into my makeup skills and collection, that I can pretty much say it’s more than just a ‘hobby’. Sometimes I can understand why friends look a tad concerned when I’ve spent a horrendous amount of money on makeup. Bluntly speaking, I could easily just go to Douglas, Sephora and buy stuff worth  130euros without batting an eyelash.(yes, it could turn out to be way more.) So it’s not a surprise why peeps ask me: why are you so infatuated with makeup?

Lemme explain.

1. You can change your facial features.

No shit, it’s amazing. Who doesn’t want distinctive cheekbones and a slimmer nose? I’m born with a cute babyface and I sometimes crave the sexy adult look, and with help of contouring-I’m nearly there. Plus to be honest: I aint got  money nor the desire to get plastic surgery. Applying some light contouring tricks, really makes a difference and does it for me.

2. Makeup is so versatile.

If I have a cute outfit or feel especially cute, than I’ll go for the bright, fresh colors with a shit ton of glitter and sparkles. Just so I can release my personal sailor moon princess. However, the next day I would channel my inner vamp. I would be percieved as a totally different person and that’s what makes makeup so fun! I have so many moods and styles, makeup is a perfect way to underline it! A form of selfexpression and individuality! That’s also the reason why I neeeeed this pink shade, because I’m pretty sure I’ll use it in future. Or do you see that dark eyeshadow? I need it. Because I just want to have a huge choice and option for every mood I have.

Makeup is the best!

3. Makeup makes me feel more confident.

It might sound lame, but applying makeup and getting dolled up for a girls night out or even for Uni, boyfriend and social events makes me feel extremely confident. It’s therapeutic and grooming. Looking in the mirror and appreciating the magic known as makeup on my face, is the icing on the cake. Damn I look flawless. I know I slay. I know my eyeliner and contour is on point! See your negativity bounce off my highlight. The second I am happy with the outcome, I’m not as nervous around new people and I am not as easily intimidated, plus a little self loving is always good. I’ve also noticed that my aura is percieved differently and that others see me as an individual who takes no bullshit from anyone.(which is mostly true) Praise the lord for makeup!

See how fabulous I look in this sassy eyeshadow?

4. I see makeup as an artform.

Basically I see my face as a canvas and I want to paint the most marvellous composition of colors onto it. I want my face to look its’ absolute best. I’ll dab in different shades and styles to create my own unique one. I had the fantastic opportunity to do the makeup for my best friend Clara and she said that the makeup style was typical for me. It was my personal signature. Biggest compliment ever! Thus, I spend a lot of money on quality products or dupes in order to get the best result.

It’s not shallow or superficial if a girl likes makeup and puts a lot of effort and love into her skills. Nor is it weird if a girl decides she prefers to wear no makeup at all or very little. We all are able to choose for our own and to take the path that we find more suitable for us. The main point is: do that what you love and love yourself while doing so!

Limecrime Valentines Trio Swatches and Review <3

limecrime

Main picture kindly provided by clara ❤ .

Now let’s come to one of my favorite topics in the entire universe. Makeup! I’ve always been kinda interested in makeup and how you can basically go from a 5 to a 10 in a matter of minutes. However, I’ve only become infatuated through my wonderful best friend Clara, who introduced me to numerous makeup techniques and companies! Since then I’ve become obsessed with contouring and looks, invested a good deal of money in quality products and found delight into applying makeup on others!

Let’s cut to the chase:

Limecrime. For many a red flag, considering the scandals etc etc. Even though they handled some situations very poorly, I am a huge huge huge fan of their products. I’ve never come across any troubles with their services or with their shipping. All of their products are vegan and cruelty free! A big plus too!

Limecrime has been my holy grail when it comes to velvet matt lipstick since forever. Since I enjoy food and drinks a lot, especially when I go out, a long lasting lipstick has always been THE option for me. Limecrime velvetines have satisfied my need for a lipstick that basically stays on forever! They’ve been releasing numerous new incredible shades the couple of months now and ruining my life. The valentines special was the first trio, where I liked ALL the shades. This happens very rarely ( even though I still bought the Holiday shades too, because I’m a sucker for them in general).

The set of three gorgeous colors was sold for a total of 42 dollars so ca. 38 Euros. Unbelievable price for good quality lipsticks!

The first shade is called Cupid, and is a nice everyday warm pinkish shade which goes especially well to very very fair skin ( such as myself. You can literally call me a friggin ghost.) It btings a subtle color to my face and it just has an overall romantic side to it.

Cupid ♥

The second shade called ‘True Love’ is a in-your-face bright red with a perfect mix of cool pinks and red undertones. It’s not one of these (in my opinion) dreadful coral colors… I hate corals. They don’t suit me neither do they suit most girls. You have to be tanned to be able to pull of a nice coral shade. I haven’t seen any girl pull it off and I just literally scream on the inside, when I see someone whose skin tone doesn’t work well with it. One of my pet peeves. However, True Love, is a vibrant neutral color! You can totally rock it to  pastel clothes or a fancy little black dress, but stay clear from patterns or you’ll just look overloaded.

Last but not least-  my favorite shade named ‘Saint’. It’s a breathtaking dark lipstick which comes across more brown than red. It reminds me of cranberries! Not as rich as wicked ( wicked is a dark blood red.) but just as lovely!  This color can be worn on any skin and you can easily achieve a vampy, lustry look with Saint. When i wear it, i feel sexy and sophisticated!

However, they tend to dry my lips out- so use chapstick before hand to keep your lips smooth and gorg while wearing the velvetines! Top tip: use your toothbrush and go over your lips to get rid of dead skin before you apply the lipstick! Afterwards use your favorite chapstick and you are good to go!

The application is fairly easy, with a little practice, you’ll get the hang of it. They dry within 1-3 minutes and change from a cremesheen to a matte velvet coat. Not only are the colors vivid but the texture is creamy and the soft fragnance resembles vanilla!♥

All in all I’m super happy with my new favorite set of lippies! I just need to wear True Love more often ( or find an event which is suitable-girls night out-drinking-where the fuck is my social life???), as it’s not a lipstick I would wear to the office.

Hope I could give you a proper insight! If you have any quetions-hit me up! What are currently your favorite shades and what do you prefer wearing when you’re going out?

Chin up and sail strong,

Charlie xoxo
